Panchakarma is a set of five therapeutic procedures administered in Ayurveda, the traditional holistic healing system of India, aimed at cleansing the body of toxins. Ayurveda posits that the accumulation of toxins and imbalances in the body can lead to illness and disrupts one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Panchakarma is designed to restore balance and support the body’s innate healing mechanisms.
The five procedures in Panchakarma are Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), Virechana (purgation), Vasti (enema), Nasya (nasal administration of medications), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting). Each of these treatments targets specific doshas (bioenergetic forces) and disorders, to detoxify the body, strengthen the immune system, and restore health. Before these treatments, there is a preparatory phase known as Purvakarma, which includes dietary adjustments, herbal supplements, medicated oils, sudation, and oleation (including oil massages) to prepare the body for detoxification. Please note, in US you could only have Nasya (nasal administration), Vasti (herbalized enema), Virechana (purgation). Raktamokshana (bloodletting) or Vamana (therapeutic vomiting) cannot be a part of your protocol.
Panchakarma is a highly personalized therapy, taking into account an individual’s constitution, health issues, age, and many other factors. It begins with a thorough consultation with an Ayurvedic specialist, who tailors the treatments to the individual's needs. The process can be intense and requires commitment, but it worse the effort. Many find it transformative, reporting improvements in physical health, emotional balance, and overall vitality. As with any healthcare regimen, it's important to approach Panchakarma with care, under the guidance of a qualified professional, to ensure it's appropriate and safe for your specific health circumstances.
The Panchakarma is a three to five weeks program depending on your protocol. It includes:
- Ayurvedic Consultation (60 min);
- Detailed PDF manual that includes diet, lifestyle, and herbal guidance;
- All required supplements;
- 3-10 days of procedures.
- Follow-up consultation.
The approximate cost is between $2000-4000 depending on procedures that will be included on your protocol and total days of your healing plan.
